About the Role

Positive Directions based at Nambour on the Sunshine Coast is seeking a full time Client Liaison Officer. Your major responsibility is to address the broader social determinants of health for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV).  You will be responsible for liaising with PLHIV and service providers on psychosocial issues based on person-centered principles, with a team approach to ensure best practice service delivery. This role will be fixed term from 30 March 2010 until 30 June 2011, with a possibility of extension after this period.

To be successful in this role you will have a Diploma in Community Services or equivalent. Experience working in a community service for a not for profit organisation is desirable but not essential. 

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the client in self determination of their social networks;
  • Referring clients to appropriate services in response to identified needs (housing, employment, emergency relief services, etc);
  • Sourcing local transport options and liaise with the client to source these options;
  • Advocating on behalf of the client without negating client ability and self advocacy; and
  • Completing administrative tasks such as client assessments and daily activity sheets. 

The successful applicant will have:

  • Good negotiation skills when dealing with outside agencies;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Current Qld driver’s licence;
  • A National Police Certificate or eligible to obtain one; and
  • The ability to work effectively, respectfully and collegially in a team environment.
