About the Role

The primary purpose of this position is to co-ordinate the residential care program for TRACC Gympie, providing accommodation and care for young people who have experienced harm.  The program will reflect negotiated priority needs of the Department of Communities Child Safety Services and will operate within funding allocation limits.

As the Residential Coordinator you are accountable to the Manager of TRACC Gympie for the following key areas:

  • Program development;
  • Oversight of care of children residing in the Gympie Home;
  • Therapeutic involvement with young people leading to their reunification with their families or transition into long term foster care placement;
  • Staff leadership and management;
  • Reporting and financial management of the residential
  • Promotion of the program.

We require the successful applicant to have:

  • A degree in Social Work, Social/Behavioural Science/Psychology;
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development and behaviour management and experience working with children, young people and families who have experienced harm;
  • Experience in the professional supervision of staff particularly in relation to the development of therapeutic plans and the implementation of strategies managing aggressive and violent behaviour;
  • Experience in and / knowledge of the provision of residential care as it relates to the child protection system;
  • Well developed communication and negotiation skills;
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and
  • A current unrestricted Qld driver's licence. 

To be successful you are required to hold and maintain a current Blue Card or be eligible to receive one prior to commencing. In some cases you may be able to commence work pending a Blue Card application. You will also be required to undertake Criminal, Traffic, Domestic Violence and Child Protection History Checks.
