About the Role
Roma Social Services - TRACC program is currently seeking a Case Worker for their Foster Care program to join their team on a full time basis.
Reporting to the Coordinator, the purpose of this role is to recruit, train and assess and provide ongoing support for Foster Carers. The position will also be responsible for ensuring Foster Carers develop the resilience and necessary skills to provide safe and supportive care to the children and young people placed with them.
We require you to have:
- Possession of a Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Behavioural Sciences and/or relevant extensive experience;
- Applied knowledge and understanding of child protection and alternative care frameworks, including knowledge of or an ability to acquire knowledge of the Child Protection Act (1999) and relevant legislation;
- Proven ability to work effectively both within a multi-skilled team and independently;
- Demonstrated ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations/highly developed problem solving, decision-making and negotiation skills; and
- Current open Qld driver's licence.
The following criteria are not essential, but will be highly regarded:
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment;
- Experience in providing training to adults and facilitating support groups; and
- Experience in writing Foster Carer Assessments.
To be successful you are required to hold and maintain a current Blue Card or be eligible to receive one prior to commencing. In some cases you may be able to commence work pending a Blue Card application.
You will also be required to undertake Criminal, Traffic, Domestic Violence and Child Protection History Checks.
