About the Role
St Mary's Support and Accommodation program provides support to young women who are pregnant or parenting young children and who experience homelessness. The service provides shared accommodation in a safe and supportive environment; community housing and support; and program development enabling young women to access a range of services.
St Mary's Support and Accommodation program are seeking a full time Residential Case Worker to join their friendly team, based at Toowong.
Reporting to the Service Coordinator, you will provide a high level of support to a maximum of eight young women (under 25yrs) and their children. You will ensure the young families needs are assessed and their goals identified, and work intensively with these young women on their identified goals.
You will need to address the selection criteria contained in the position description. This main criteria is outlined below and incorporated in the questions located in the application form, after the role description.
- Qualifications in Human Services or related field;
- Knowledge of issues which impact the lives of young parenting women who are at risk of homelessness;
- Experience in and demonstrated ability to work with young families and/or young pregnant women at risk of homelessness, to provide support with housing, parenting and child protection issues;
- Experience in communicating with young women and young children and an ability to negotiate individual support agreements;
- Strong time management skills and be an effective team member; and
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
